50cm x 50cm Pioneer Trumpet banner is of a flat wire embroidery. The one side is to Battallion 27 with two army eagles and two iron crosses. The front, which has all 4 connecting tabs, shows some damage to the upper tress area, as well as some light wear to the silver fringe. The front is quite brilliant with a large iron cross in the center, flanked by army eagles and swastikas. Given the style of the embroidery, this is probably a very early piece, and for its age is in very nice condition. The Pionier Bataillon was formed in 1937 already, stationed in Ingolstadt, Bavaria. At the 11. October 1940 the Bataillon was re-named into Panzer-Pionier-Bataillon 27 as a part of the 17. Panzer-Division.
